2 Calif. COs injured in collision with semi truck

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. — Two California correctional officers were injured Tuesday after their vehicle collided with a semi truck.

KGET.com reported that Officers Christopher Connolly and Samuel Oba, both with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, were returning to California State Prison-Corcoran from an off-site assignment at a local hospital when the crash occurred on Highway 43. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

“Please keep the officers in your thoughts as they recover from their injuries,” the department wrote on Facebook. “As often happens with incidents near state institutions, CDCR staff were also the first to arrive on scene and administer aid.”

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. We will update you once more information becomes available.
