CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — In an effort to keep children safe this Halloween, the Tennessee DOC launched their annual statewide check of registered sex offenders.
TDOC probation and parole officers will team up with area law enforcement to carry out the mission, known as “Operation Blackout,” which will ensure that the state’s more than 3,000 registered sex offenders follow the rules as Halloween approaches, WTVC reports.
The team will visit random homes in their statewide search to conduct compliance checks of the offenders. According to the TDOC, more than 1,100 visits will occur on Halloween night.
