PORTAGE, Wis. — Netflix launched “DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” today – a new Ryan Murphy series that stars actor Evan Peters, who reached fame through roles in American Horror Story and the X-Men movies, as serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. And the trailer is haunting – to say the least.
For those who are unfamiliar with America’s most notorious serial killer: Dahmer’s killing spree began in 1978. When he was finally arrested in 1991, Dahmer admitted to murdering at least 17 people – mostly young men – over a 13-year period. The fascination with Dahmer stems from his heinous acts involving cannibalism and necrophilia. The series focuses on how Dahmer stayed under the radar for over a decade.
Dahmer was eventually sentenced to 15 life sentences in 1992 and another life sentence was added on top of that a few months later. However, Dahmer was killed by an inmate in a Wisconsin prison in 1994.
