ATOKA, Okla. — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says seven Oklahoma Department of Corrections inmates, the driver of the van carrying them and another passenger were injured when the van pulled into the path of a semi on Oklahoma Highway 7 near Atoka.
An OHP report says Courtny Allen Reed of Coalgate and Charles Edward Sanders of Atoka were taken to an Oklahoma City hospital in unknown conditions following the Monday accident. The report says the seven inmates were in stable condition or were treated and released.
The report says the van driven by Reed was on the shoulder of westbound Highway 7 when he tried to make a U-turn and pulled into the path of the semi.
The driver of the semi was treated and released at an Atoka hospital.
