Oakley has announced a new collection of sunglasses designed specifically for those on the water.
With lenses made from Plutonite, the SI Prism Maritime Polarized eyewear reduces glare, increases contrast and improves clarity in order to allow the user to better navigate and see through water. The lenses filter out UVA, UVB, UVC and blue light up to 400nm, according to a press release.
The frames are designed to fit securely on the face without slipping in wet conditions through a nose pad built with hydrophilic Unobtainium.
The company’s Prizm technology, which debuted in 2014, features a formulated dye that “fine-tunes” colors in order to heighten the contrast between targets and surrounding objects in both bright and low-light conditions.
The lenses were developed with the input of the Army Marksmanship Unit – the U.S. Army’s group of elite competitive shooters. Other previously released models featuring the Prizm technology include Oakley’s competitive shooting eyeshield, the Tombstone, and the SI Ballistic Det Cord.
The SI Prizm Maritime Polarized comes in three configurations and is available now.
