SALEM, Ore. – A fight between as many as 40 inmates broke out in the outdoor yard of the medium-security Oregon State Correctional Institution on Saturday afternoon.
There have been no reported injuries to the staff or inmates, but the prison has been placed on “modified lock down”, The Oregonian is reporting.
The Department of Corrections is investigating the incident.
The lockdown and a visiting ban will remain in effect until the Department of Corrections’ special investigative unit completes its investigation, said Department of Corrections spokesperson Jennifer Black.
The prison, which is located in Salem, Oregon, houses about 890 inmates.
Visiting hours are expected to return to normal Wednesday.
