There are many exciting stories about how night vision has helped in a variety of situations - from the ability of a law enforcement officer to covertly observe and ultimately apprehend a criminal to the ability of a nature enthusiast to see a nocturnal animal in its natural environment. Learn how night vision is being used and see what it could do to enhance your effectiveness during night operations, your personal security, and/or your outdoor adventures.
State Narcotics Agents and the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office had their eyes on a methamphetamine lab in a rural, heavily wooded area of the county. Before performing a raid, the group conducted several hours of surveillance. Because the surveillance team was required to travel a long distance in total darkness to reach the lab, the scouts were equipped with ITT’s Generation 3, Night Enforcer 6015 Monocular. The scout team relied heavily on ITT’s night vision technology. Since the path had to be traversed in no light conditions, the targeted suspects would have detected flashlights.
The scout team was primarily responsible for locating the lab, determining the number of suspects, gathering other intelligence, and preventing the escape of suspects as the raid team approached from the roadway. At one point the scout team, with the aid of the night vision, observed two dogs moving in their direction. The team was able to avoid the dogs that were approximately 100 yards from the lab. “Without night vision, this would not have been possible,” said Brackman. “The suspects would have been tipped off by the barking dogs, and they would have destroyed the lab and fled from authorities.”
Instead, the scout team successfully remained undetected while observing the lab site for several hours until the raid team arrived. “The suspects never knew the scout team was 35 feet from the operation in total darkness,” said Brackman. “The ability of our scout team to perform such tasks is attributed to the use of the ITT’s Night Enforcer 6015—it’s a great product.”

We have used the ITT model 160 night vision monocular for several years and it has greatly aided our Law Enforcement operations. It is especially usefull during our mutual aid drug enforcement operations. I would recommend the ITT line of night vision products to other agencies without reservation.
