MORRIS COUNTY — A Morris County probation officer who returned $3,500 she found on a sidewalk in downtown Morristown was formally honored Wednesday by the Morris County Board of Freeholders and by the state judiciary.
During their late-afternoon work meeting in Morristown, the freeholders presented the probation officer, Chanti Carter-Rene of East Orange, with a plaque in recognition of “her esteemed honesty in returning found money to its owner.”
The freeholders also gave Carter-Rene a $150 award out of funds they personally donated.
