BALTIMORE — Twenty-two members of the Dead Man Incorporated prison gang are facing a federal racketeering indictment that alleges that they were involved in drug trafficking, smuggling contraband into prison and four killings.
The indictment was unsealed Wednesday after the arrests of seven defendants.
Authorities say 11 defendants were already in custody and another four are still at large. Authorities say Perry Roark was the “Supreme Commander” of the group closely allied in its early years to the Black Guerilla Family gang.
Prosecutors allege that DMI was founded in 2000 and operated in prisons in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Louisiana and Texas, but began expanding outside prison in 2006.
