CHICAGO — Surveillance footage capturing a disturbance at the Cook County Jail on Saturday has been released.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the inmates were in the jail’s super maximum security division when the incident occurred. The prisoners used a microwave to ignite a wick and set their jumpsuits on fire.
Corrections officers responded to the scene as smoke began to fill the unit. Two officers were injured securing the tier. Two other COs were treated for smoke inhalation. All four are currently recovering from their injuries.
