DECATUR, Ill. — Terrance J. Wilson, a Decatur prisoner who made a desperate escape attempt by spraying a Macon County Jail corrections officer with a mixture of urine and cleaning fluid, pleaded not guilty to multiple felony charges Wednesday.
Wilson, 25, appeared in Macon County Circuit Court and was arraigned on three counts of aggravated battery to a correctional officer, one count of escape and one count of aggravated resisting a peace officer. He was represented by public defender David Ellison.
A sworn affidavit said Wilson made his escape bid April 4 as he was being led out of the Macon County Courthouse after just having received a 10-year prison sentence for armed robbery. The affidavit said Wilson had concealed a squeeze bottle with the urine/cleaning fluid cocktail in his underwear, used it to spray corrections officer Corey Maloney in the face and then fled.
Maloney pursued Wilson and was hit by a concrete brick Wilson threw at him before Maloney managed to bring him down with a shot from a stun gun, the affidavit said. It took multiple officers to subdue Wilson, and an officer was injured. Wilson was not hurt, according to the affidavit.
His case was set for a pretrial hearing May 30.
