CALHOUN COUNTY, Ala. — A Calhoun County inmate was arrested on a sexual abuse charge Dec. 28 after he touched a female corrections officer inappropriately, according to court records that became available Friday.
Vincent Shane Burton, 24, who was originally being held on a charge of third-degree domestic violence, was recently charged with sexual abuse in the first degree, a felony, according to a warrant for his arrest.
The incident occurred on Friday, Dec. 27, according to a police report. Sheriff Larry Amerson said that before the incident, Burton had been causing a disturbance by yelling and banging on the door to his jail section while corrections officers were doing a walk-through.
When the corrections officer approached Burton, Burton grabbed her right arm with one hand and used the other to touch her breast, the sheriff said. According to the sheriff, Burton continued to try and grab the officer as he was being led back to his cell.
Burton was still in t Calhoun County Jail Friday according to jail records and a warrant for his arrest. He is to appear in court on Feb. 3.
