WALDO, Maine — An off-duty corrections officer at the Maine Coastal Regional Reentry Center was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after he accidentally shot himself in the thigh.
According to Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old Walter Wagner of Waldo did not appear to be seriously injured after the 9 a.m. accident.
Wagner evidently had reached to pick his .40-caliber Glock handgun out of its holster when it discharged, wounding him in the leg.
