PITTSFIELD, Vt. — Tough Mudder, the endurance event series owned by Spartan Race, has launched a 5K race to celebrate first responders’ dedication and service to community.

Tough Mudder’s Hometown Heroes 5K Appreciation Run will take place Oct. 26 in Granbury, Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth area). There is no charge for first responders and their families.

The event is being held in conjunction with Lexipol Media Group, publishers of FireRescue1 and the Better Every Shift podcast, as well as sister sites Police1, EMS1 and Corrections1.

Earlier this year, Joe De Sena, the founder and CEO of the Spartan endurance sports brand, offered firefighters free registration to a Spartan Obstacle Course Race, Spartan Trail Event or Tough Mudder event in 2024. De Sena made the announcement on the Better Every Shift podcast, hosted by Fire Lt. Aaron Zamzow. (Watch the full episode here.) Spartan Race has now expanded its support of first responders with this event specifically for first responders and their families.

Register for Tough Mudder’s Hometown Heroes 5K Appreciation Run.

A department ID will be required on site.
