Brothers charged in killing of off-duty Ohio CO due in court

Police are still trying to determine the motive for the shooting; it doesn’t appear anyone involved knew each other

PARMA, Ohio — Two brothers charged in connection with the death of a bouncer and bar patron at Rookies Sports Bar and Grill will face a judge Wednesday morning.

Juan Carlos Perez, 27, is charged with two counts of aggravated murder, while his brother, Luis Carlos Candelario, 30, is charged with two counts of complicity to aggravated murder, according to Parma Municipal Court records.

Both of them will be arraigned in Judge Ken Spanagel’s courtroom. Candelario will appear first followed by his brother Perez, Parma police Lt. Dan Ciryak said.

Timoteo “Tim” Cruz, a Cuyahoga County corrections officer, who was a bouncer that night, and 29-year-old Sean Michael Acierno, a patron walking through the parking lot, died in the shooting that happened about 2:15 a.m. Saturday at the bar on Pearl Road near Ridge Road, police previously said.
