MEXICO, Mo. — A correctional officer was killed in a crash while returning from an assignment, Officer Down Memorial Page reports.
On Oct. 22, Officer Kelly B. Rolando was returning from an assignment when he collided head-on with a Tesla, according to the Mexico MO Department of Safety. Rolando and the driver of the other vehicle were both killed in the collision.
Rolando was returning to the Northeast Correctional Center in Bowling Green from a temporary assignment at the University Hospital in Columbia.
Rolando was with the Missouri Department of Corrections for 8 years. He is survived by both his parents, both grandmothers and a grandfather, along with his three sisters and two brothers.
