NEW YORK — Corrections Officer Robert Boom collapsed in the Annex Yard at the Otis Bantum Correctional Center on June 18. Fellow officers and Correctional Health Services activated a medical emergency and performed CPR until FDNY EMS arrived. Boom received emergency care and transport to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In a statement, DOC Commissioner Lynelle Maginley-Liddie described Boom as a “noble hero” for his 13 years of service to the department.
“This is a tragic loss for our entire Boldest family,” Maginley-Liddie said. “Correction Officer Robert Boom boldly served our department for almost 13 years, doing a difficult and dangerous job that kept our city safe. Our prayers are with Officer Boom’s family and his fellow officers.”
