TAMPA, Fla. — A former CO filed a complaint after he was allegedly fired from Avon Park Correctional Institution for taking leave to care for his sick son.

According to the Florida Record, a complaint filed by Lurie Bonini alleges that he suffered damages after his employer interfered with his right to take leave and manipulated his work schedule on short notice.

The complaint also alleges that Bonini was fired after he filed a complaint with the Department of Labor about not being able to take leave.

Bonini’s complaint said he is seeking a trial, back pay, reinstatement, liquidated damages, attorney’s fees, cost, and further relief the court deems proper.
