ATMORE, Ala. — The Alabama Department of Corrections is investigating a Tuesday inmate-on-inmate stabbing at Holman Correctional Facility.
Prison Spokesperson Bob Horton told WBRC that the injured inmate was transported for treatment, and the injuries are non-life-threatening.
The inmate responsible has been removed from the general population at the facility.
According to the publication, the monthly statistical reports from the ADOC shows violence is going up at Holman as COs and staff continue to leave the facility.
January data shows the staffing level was at 53 percent. In August it was listed at 40 percent.
As of August, the prison reports show 152 total assaults in 2016. Three assaults resulted in serious injury to staff members, the publication reported.
