PHOENIX — Arizona has launched a new tuition scholarship program for the spouses and children of law enforcement officers and correctional officers, The Prescott Times reported.
The Spouses and Dependents of Law Enforcement and Correctional Officers Tuition Scholarship will cover all tuition and mandatory fees at Arizona colleges and universities for any family member who meets the qualifications, according to the report.
“Behind every badge is a family offering support to their hero,” Representative Matt Gress, who secured funding for the program, stated. “Today, we stand by them, honoring their sacrifice and service with this important new tuition scholarship. This program is more than financial assistance; it’s a bridge to a brighter future for the families of those who’ve dedicated their lives to our safety.”
To qualify, applicants must be a dependent under the age of 27 or the spouse of a law enforcement officer or correctional officer. Applicants must complete a FAFSA, submit a copy of the officer’s commission card, a current employment card and a marriage certificate or birth certificate proving they are an officer’s dependent. Applications will be accepted starting March 15, 2024, and funding will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
