CAÑON CITY, Colo. — Police are searching for an inmate who escaped from a Colorado Department of Corrections center in Cañon City, state officials said Monday morning.

Leaf Glimpse — a 34-year-old man serving an eight-year burglary sentence — escaped from the Arrowhead Correctional Center in the East Cañon Complex, state officials said.

State officials didn’t say when Glimpse managed to escape the complex, but said the Cañon City Search Team was immediately activated and law enforcement was notified when guards noticed the escape. The Office of the Inspector General is investigating the escape.

Glimpse is a 5-foot-4-inch, 185-pound white man with brown hair and blue eyes, state officials said in the release. He was last seen wearing prison-issued green pants, a white t-shirt and black boots.

State officials said that people who see Glimpse should not approach and should call 911.
