HOWELL — A convicted meth dealer who faked a pregnancy-related problem in an effort to escape from the Livingston County jail has received a 13- to 30-year prison sentence.

Sheriff Bob Bezotte says Ray Lynn Dennis of Fowlervilleused red Kool-Aid to pretend she was bleeding and having pregnancy complications last month. Deputies took Dennis to University of Michigan hospital, but a doctor concluded she wasn’t bleeding and had been faking distress.

Bezotte said Dennis, who was six months pregnant at the time, planned to use the hospital visit as a way to escape. He said authorities learned through jail intel that Dennis was plotting to make a getaway with her husband.

Dennis – whose criminal history includes convictions for absconding from bond, breaking into a vehicle and felonious assault – was in jail after pleading guilty to delivering meth and operating a meth lab. Circuit Judge Michael Hatty sentenced her Thursday.
