PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. — Inmate Roy Slagle, 45, is accused of attempting to escape from jail this past weekend by ripping a steel seat from a cement floor and trying to break a window.

Slagle is also suspected of altering his appearance and lashing togeer a rope to rappel down the jail’s exterior, according to The Chieftan.

Sheriff Kirk Taylor said Slagle ripped out a round metal seat that had been welded and bolted into the floor around 4 a.m. on Saturday in a maximum security wing of the jail’s fourth floor.

Deputies were alerted to the incident from the noise.
