DETROIT — Authorities are looking for an escaped parolee who, while wearing handcuffs and shackles, managed to walk out of a parole office and is now on the run.

Anyone who sees Rowvontae Tarrell Walker, 19, is asked not to approach him and to call 911, said Holly Kramer, a spokeswoman for the Michigan Department of Corrections.

The incident began before 3 p.m., when Walker arrived for a regular check-in at a parole office on Lawton, just off Grand River near I-94 and I-96.

Walker had been on parole since September for unarmed robbery – but authorities began to question him regarding a carjacking, and decided to detain him in leg shackles and handcuffs, Kramer said.

But at some point while being detained, Walker walked out of the building.

“Our first priority is to get him back into custody as soon as possible,” Kramer said.

According to a Department of Corrections website, Walker is 5’10 and 160 pounds. Detroit Police is assisting with the search.
