PHOENIX — Police are searching for a sex offender who escaped from hospital staff during an off-site treatment activity Saturday night.
Police told News12 that Randy Layton, 37, was scheduled to attend the “reintroduction program,” where men who are convicted of sexually violent crimes receive treatment. Layton served time in prison for attempted sexual assault of a minor and aggravated assault. Authorities found Layton’s ankle monitor a couple of miles away from the hospital.
Layton is described as a moderate risk to others and has several different aliases, including Randy Fulkerson and Randy Valdez, The Republic reported. He is 5’8” and weighs 210 pounds, wearing a black, long-sleeved shirt and black shorts. Layton has tattoos on his left hand, including a cross, “KM,” “Tina,” and “Ice.”
According to DHS, Layton is a patient at the Arizona Community Protection and Treatment Center.
