1) What was the inspiration behind starting your company?

The inspiration behind starting Eclipse Screening Technologies stemmed from a deep commitment to protecting communities and addressing one of the most pressing crises of our time: the opioid epidemic. We saw an opportunity to leverage cutting-edge technology to safeguard some of the most vulnerable individuals, particularly incarcerated individuals, who are often exposed to dangerous substances through illicit means. By providing solutions that help intercept these threats in real time, we aim to contribute to the larger goal of protecting inmates and corrections officers from the dangers of fentanyl and other harmful drugs. Our work is driven by a genuine desire to create safer environments and support the well-being of those at risk

2) What is your signature product and how does it work?

The VeroVision Mail Screener. The VeroVision Mail Screener uses Hyperspectral Imaging (HSI). HSI is an extension of digital imaging that acquires many images at different wavelengths. VeroVision technology uses a unique short-wave infrared (SWIR) filter technology to control the wavelength of light that passes through the filter to the detector. This type of technology reveals what cannot be seen with the naked eye. The VeroVision system is the only imaging system that can provide chemical-based detection and presumptive identification of substances secreted in inmate mail. VeroVision provides fast, accurate, and objective results. These results are quickly captured and placed automatically into a report while the detection information is saved in a database to be used later for investigative purposes

3) Why do you believe your products are essential to your vertical (Police, Fire, EMS, Corrections, Government) community?

The VeroVision System has proven highly effective in intercepting illicit drugs attempting to enter jails and prisons through inmate mail, including deadly substances like fentanyl, which claim lives daily. Our advanced technology has successfully detected and presumptively identified fentanyl in mail at correctional facilities across the United States. By preventing these dangerous substances from reaching inmates, we are actively saving lives and reducing the threat posed to both staff and incarcerated individuals

4) What has been the biggest challenge your company has faced?

Our biggest challenge has been staying ahead of the constantly evolving threat of illicit drugs entering facilities through the mail. As drug smuggling methods become more sophisticated, we are continuously adapting and innovating to ensure our technology remains effective. At the same time, we work to manage customer expectations by helping them understand that while our solutions are highly advanced, there is no single technology that can address every threat. It’s a balance between pushing the boundaries of innovation and providing realistic, effective solutions for the challenges our clients face.

5) What makes your company unique?

Eclipse Screening Technologies stands out because we are a small, dynamic team of scientists, engineers, and business professionals driven by a genuine desire to help people. Our agility and close-knit structure allow us to quickly adapt and innovate in response to evolving challenges. We thrive on building strong partnerships and foster deep relationships with our customers. What makes us truly unique is how we apply our expertise and vision to create a tailored “safety envelope” for each customer, understanding how they operate and addressing the most critical risks they face.

6) What do your customers like best about you and your products?

Our customers value the ability of our products to presumptively identify threats in inmate mail. This capability provides them with immediate, actionable intelligence, allowing them to respond quickly and effectively by implementing the necessary safety protocols. Additionally, the intelligence gathered through our technology supports broader investigations and helps identify the sources of illicit activity, making our solutions an integral part of their security strategy.

7) What is the most rewarding part of serving the first responder/local government community?

Simply put, we take pride in serving those who serve our community. Over the last 8 years we got to know and understand the corrections community, how they operate, their passions, commitment and duty to the community. We are honored to provide safety and security to Correctional Officers arond the world.

8) What’s next for your company? Any upcoming new projects or initiatives?

Innovation is at the forefront of what’s next for Eclipse Screening Technologies. We are preparing to launch the next iteration of our VeroVision Mail Screener, a direct response to customer feedback requesting faster results and expanded chemical libraries. We continuously monitor evolving threats and drug trends, using that knowledge to develop enhanced algorithms powered by machine learning, ensuring our technology remains at the cutting edge of detection and safety.
