SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah — A judge has ordered the ‘Pay for Stay’ program at the Salt Lake County Jail suspended pending review of procedures.

Jim Winder, Salt Lake County Sheriff, said they put their program on hold and are working with other authorities to ensure the program meets all requirements, according to FOX 13.

“I think the citizens expect that when an individual is incarcerated that he or she, if they’re capable, should be able to pay for a portion of their commitment, but it has to be done legally, it has to be done with due process, we understand that, but I don’t want the citizens to feel like this program, inherently, is a problem,” he said.
