VALHALLA, NY — A new dress code that took effect Monday at the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla, NY, bans visitors from wearing many items when they come to visit an inmate.

Violate the policy, says LoHud, and you won’t be allowed in.

Most types of jewelry are banned, but if it’s something like a wedding band, religious items, or post earrings, they can be stored in a lobby locker. Otherwise, the DOC recommends leaving the jewelry in your car or at home.

Orange can’t be worn anywhere on the jail grounds, as it’s the color prisoners wear.

Visitors also can’t be dressed inappropriately, such as hoodies, winter jackets, provocative clothing, pants with holes or skirts shorter than knee-length. Headwear is banned, except if it’s religious. Lawyers, however, are still allowed to wear dress coats.

The full list of rules can be read here.
