CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Cuyahoga County Jail officer resigned in the middle of an investigation into accusations of an improper relationship with an inmate he supervised, officials said.
Officer Jeremiah Crist submitted his resignation Thursday, Cuyahoga County spokeswoman Mary Louise Madigan.
Madigan said she did not know what prompted the investigation, and the county has thus far declined to release any additional details about the case.
Crist was hired as a corrections officer since 2005.
Madigan said the case was referred to human resources and the sheriff’s department for a criminal investigation.
