WHITESBURG, Ky. — An eastern Kentucky jailer says an inmate charged with murder planned to use a hypodermic needle and sharpened pencil as weapons in a plot to escape from jail.
Letcher County Deputy Jailer Jeff Mullins says they found the items under James Maggard’s bunk in his jail cell after receiving a tip.
Maggard is behind bars for the alleged murder of Drad Fleming earlier this year.
