CARLISLE — The popular SyFy show ‘Ghost Hunters’ has been approved to film inside the old Cumberland County prison and courthouse as early as next month.

PennLive reports that there have been reports of unusual activity at the 18th century courthouse on Carlisle’s square and the old 1950s era jail for many years.

One supervisor from a Cumberland County department with offices at the old courthouse reported doors opening and slamming shut on their own, while another employee reported seeing disembodied legs walking around the basement of the old prison.

“I saw boots and khaki pants. I didn’t see anything above that. When I went out there, there was no one there. I would have heard the door if anyone left,” said Marlin Hamilton.

No date has been set for filming. It’s also unclear when any episodes would air. The county wouldn’t be paid for showcasing its spooks on TV, but they are excited about the potential publicity.

The ghost hunting team would have unlimited access to the courthouse, but not the prison as it houses law enforcement officers.
