ALAMEDA COUNTY, Calif. — Sesame Street is reaching out to children who have parents in prison, by sending Elmo to San Quentin and Santa Rita Jail.
The “Alameda County Children of Incarcerated Parents Partnership” is hosting several events and a workshop called “little children, big challenges” that focuses on incarceration.
It even includes a couple visits by the loveable, scruffy red Elmo, with a video presentation to introduce a new Muppet character, Alex, who has an incarcerated father.
