LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department credits several deputies with preventing an inmate from jumping from a walkway along an upper tier of cells at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown Los Angeles.

A department statement Monday says the inmate was released from his cell to attend a group therapy session when he began climbing over a railing and tried to jump last week.

One of the deputies grabbed the inmate’s wrist while several others on the lower level grabbed his feet.

Twin Towers houses about 2,400 inmates.
