When most people think of prison, it’s usually about what inmates go without. But a closer look at the commissaries inside a few federal prisons turns up some very surprising items. All lists are available on the BOP website under each specific institution.

Several prisons in the U.S. allow inmates to upgrade from simple coffee to a cappuccino; the federal prison in Oxford charges inmates $1.50 a cup, while the federal detention center in Houston charges $1.75.

Though many facilities may want to reconsider this tool after a story we posted earlier, sporks are available at several prisons for a mere .40 cents.

This item is also a little concerning – in the downtown lockup in Houston, inmates can purchase both yarn and crochet hooks to while away the time. Yarn, depending on color, varies from $4.10 to $6.

At a facility in Colorado, food enthusiasts can indulge in a little octopus if they so desire. It costs $1.65, though it’s unclear how much the purchaser gets for their money.

What would inmates need a calculator for? Regardless, a Colorado prison makes them available to inmates for the low price of $14.10.

Inmates who want to keep track of their time while running can pick up this timepiece inside Colorado facilities for just $35.30.

Inmates in Leavenworth can pick up a pair of boots for just $99.95.

Book lights are available at the federal prison in Danbury Connecticut for $9.75.

Want to lose some weight with all that free time? The waist trimmer available at FCI-Bastrop is only $9.10.

Nothing gets you squeaky clean like a body loofah, available at the federal detention center in Phoenix for $1.15.
