BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio — Officials from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office promoted four corrections staff members during a ceremony Friday as a result of the approaching retirement of the assistant administrator of the Logan County Juvenile Detention Center.

Sgt. Frank Gilbert will retire effective March 31 following 10 years of service at the JDC, and 17 years of service to the sheriff’s office. Prior to working at the LCSO, he was employed by the Bellefontaine Fire Department for 27 years.

During his tenure, the Logan County JDC received exceptional scores on its annual facility standards inspection by the Ohio Department of Youth Services, receiving 100 percent passage rates for the past three years. In 2010, the facility was found to be compliant in all by but one of the 143 standards, as previously reported in the Examiner.

“We’re really going to miss Frank,” Jail Administrator Lt. Greg Fitzpatrick said. “We couldn’t have done all of this without him.”
