PHOENIX — Officials in Arizona say a CO at Estrella Jail saved a suicidal inmate Monday evening.
The inmate was released from his cell to be taken to medical after making suicidal statements. The video shows CO Ramirez waiting to escort the inmate.
When the door opens, the inmate attempted to jump over the railing on the second floor, a 20-foot drop, according to ABC15.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio praised CO Ramirez for risking her life to save the inmate.
Officer Ramirez was injured during the incident but has since returned to work.
