In this week’s episode, host Anthony Gangi talks with guest Laura Bedard to discuss the differences between male and female inmates and what it takes to handle the female population
“I would never want to work in a female prison,” is a stigma that’s been attached to female offenders for some time. In this week’s episode, host Anthony Gangi and guest Laura Bedard explain the nuances of handling the female population, and how others can come to enjoy working with female inmates.
“If you ask a male inmate to tuck his shirt in, he’ll usually do what you say. Sure, he might walk away and give you a flat tire, but he’ll still do it,” Bedard said of the differences between male and female inmates. “When you ask a female inmate to tuck her shirt in, she’ll ask why she has to tuck her shirt in, and compare it to another inmate’s, saying her shirt looks fine just the way it is.
“Female offenders require a lot more patience than male offenders.”
Bedard also breaks down the differences between why women are in prison versus their male counterparts.
