VACAVILLE, Calif. — A recent graduate of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Academy has achieved a significant milestone, continuing a proud family legacy in law enforcement.
Correctional Officer Yahsiia Fowler represents the third generation of her family to enter the corrections field, according to CDCR. Fowler has been assigned to California State Prison Solano (SOL) in Vacaville, a short distance from where her mother works.
Fowler’s motivation to become a correctional officer stems from her commitment to rehabilitating incarcerated individuals and aiding their successful reintegration into society, CDCR said.
“My mother has exemplified what it means to be an honorable peace officer and has always been a source of encouragement,” Fowler said. Her dedication was cemented during a memorable Bring Your Kid to Work Day.
Guided by her mother, Chief Deputy Warden (CDW) Sircoya M. Williams at the California Medical Facility, Fowler found inspiration in an exceptional role model.
CDW Williams expressed immense pride while pinning the badge on her daughter.
“Passing the torch to Yahsiia is both an honor and a profound moment,” Williams said.
With her mother’s unwavering support and a new role at California State Prison Solano, Fowler is poised to make significant contributions to the field of corrections, upholding a tradition of excellence and commitment to public safety.
Fowler’s future goals involve improving institutional safety and upholding high professional standards.
