NOVA SCOTIA, Canada — Staff at the Springhill Prison recently seized 11 bales of tobacco valued at $11,000.
“Tobacco and any tobacco products are considered unauthorized items for us. Our staff were conducting some routine random searching and they were able to confiscate 11 bales of tobacco,” Shannon Oickle, program manager at the facility, told The Chronicle Herald.
Despite having scanners and staff searchings, Oickle admitted that contraband still often finds a way into the facility. However, the staff remain vigilant and this find only proves that their methods work.
There are over 500 men incarcerated at Springhill.
