SYDNEY — Two Canadian women were arrested in Australia on suspicion of importing 95 kg (about 209 lbs.) of cocaine onto a cruise ship.
Isabelle Lagace, 28, and Melina Roberge, 23, had been traveling on a cruise ship for two months, posting photos of their travels on Instagram, according to Sky News.
Sixty-three-year-old Andre Jorge Tamine, also from Canada, was arrested in connection with the crime.
Photos show them in New York, South America, London, and French Polynesia, but when they arrived in Sydney, they were met by police officials and K-9s, the publication reported.
Australian Border Force officers told Sky News they seized the drugs after discovering them inside the girls’ suitcases.
The suspects have been charged with importing a commercial quantity of cocaine, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.
The three will remain in custody until their next hearing on October 26, according to the publication.
