MAURY, N.C. -- A woman allegedly handed over half an ounce of marijuana to an inmate at Maury Correctional Institution on Saturday afternoon.
According to a statement from Greene County Sheriff Lemmie Smith, detention officers discovered Victoria Laureen Stith, 46, passing the weed to 30-year-old inmate Travis Freeman, who was later found with it.
Stith was charged with the felonies of providing drugs to an inmate and possession of a controlled substance on prison premises.
She was placed into the Greene County jail under a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Aug. 26 in Greene County District Court.
