NEW YORK — A Brooklyn gangbanger who killed a romantic rival will spend another nine years behind bars for his role in a vicious slashing on a Rikers Island correction officer in 2015.

Darnell Green choked correction officer Ray Calderon from behind while another inmate sliced his face from cheek to ear and slashed his arm on Nov. 5, 2015. Calderon needed 26 stitches to close the grisly wounds.

The 22-year-old Bloods member was awaiting trial for the March 2015 killing of 18-year-old Isiah (Magic) Lee when he and fellow inmate William Whitfield ganged up on Calderon. Whitfield was sentenced to 11 years in prison for the attack.

“The incident was a despicable display of violence against an officer who was on the job,” Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark said. “The sentence announced today sends a clear message that you will be held responsible for brutality in our jails.”

Green’s sentence will begin after he’s done with his 25-year term for Lee’s killing.

Green pleaded guilty to manslaughter in September 2016, admitting he shot Lee in the face and chest after the teen opened his apartment door in the Charleton Manor Houses. The victim had been feuding with Green, a reputed Bloods member, over a woman, court records show.
