Sergeant Tamara McDiarmid started her career as a part time Law Enforcement Officer in 1989. She became a full time corrections officer in 1992 with the Kent County Sheriff Department. Tamara was promoted to Sergeant in 2007 and supervised the KCSD Training Unit from 2009-2013. She is currently the nightshift corrections supervisor at the Kent County Sheriff Department. Tamara holds a Bachelors Degree from Ferris State University and a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from Grand Valley State University. She graduated from the American Jail Association’s National Jail Leadership Command Academy in November 2013. Tamara also serves as a corrections academy instructor for the Michigan Sheriff Coordinating and Training Council and is an adjunct instructor for Grand Rapids Community College in their Criminal Justice Program.
